waterWhile many diet enthusiasts will talk a lot about carbohydrate intake and foods that are rich in antioxidants, there’s nothing more important to our diet than water. A person can potentially survive for weeks without food, but cutting a person off from water will kill them in a matter of days. While there’s some debate about exactly how much water you’re supposed to have in any given day (the standard ideal of eight glasses receiving some opposition), there is one thing that everyone can agree on: clean drinking water is essential.

If you want to ensure that your diet is properly filled with clean water, look into installing a home water filtration system. In a convenient and easy way, this makes sure your tap yields clean water every time. After all, if you don’t like the taste of your tap water or if it’s brown and murky, you’re a lot less likely to drink water at all. You’ll probably opt instead for pop, juice, or coffee. But you’d be surprised at how much healthier you’d feel at the end of the month if you replaced these high sugar, high caffeine products with natural water.

filterchangeIf you’re concerned with getting the best water possible, it’s very likely that you’ve looked into a water filter of some kind or another. Many people even choose to install multiple filters throughout their house. In this way, you can have the cleanest, safest water straight from the tap, at the dinner table, in the shower, and beyond. And while many of these filters are very convenient, they aren’t completely self-operating.

To that end, you should always look into how long you can use these water filtration systems before you have to replace the filter cartridge itself. It really does depend on the brand and type of filter you’re using, but they generally last between six and twelve months. It’s important to get these filters replaced in a timely manner, because once the filter is done, you’re no longer receiving the clean and safe water that you expect from your various filtrations systems.

water-filtration-systemsIn a time when water is often contaminated with dangerous toxins, heavy metals, and even prescription drugs, it’s important to filter all the water that enters your body. When it comes to water filtration systems and water purifiers, there are several options to consider at various price levels.  The primary and most common option is a water filtration pitcher.  These pitchers simply take water out of your tap, and filter it into clean water.  The downside is the filters for these pitchers can be expensive and need to be replaced semi-frequently.

The other options are faucet filters and home water filters.  These are more practical options, one installed over the faucet, and one installed in your actual plumbing.  Both of these products provide an endless stream of clean water, however one works throughout your home.  If you just drink water from one faucet, a faucet filter might be more practical, and in locations like apartments where you can’t change the plumbing.

If you’re like most Americans and worried about making sure your drinking water is clean you probably use waterfilters. And, if you’re like me and have been using a water filter for several years, you probably also struggle with making sure you change your water filter cartridges regularly. If you’re young you may not have any idea how our water got so dirty in the first place.

The short answer to this question is to explain the water cycle. Water follows a natural cycle; it moves rain from the tops of mountains to streams and through rivers to the sea, and then back to the clouds. The water cycle in the United States has been disrupted in many ways. Dredging, damming and tampering or cutting out the ecological niches where water naturally cleans itself. In the long run this tampering has resulted in impure water. That’s where filters come in.
