droughtPeople can go for over a week without food, but it only takes a few days without water to spell the end for humans. Every year stories comes out about how drought and the lack of water purification systems is wreaking havoc in countries around the globe. This year is no different, with the citizens of India currently suffering.

Despite just experiencing their rainy season, the country is still in need of water. This year the lack of rain has led to the worst drought since 1972. People travel for miles with their water jugs to reach one of the few wells that still offer some fresh, clean water.

home-water-filterThis summer I took my little brother to a baseball game and was astounded by the cost of water. I expected the $8 hot dogs and $55 bleacher tickets, but $4 for a bottle of water! It’s gotten to the point where bottled water costs as much—if not more than—a bottle of soda. How does that make sense?

With ludicrous pricing for clean, filtered water, the best option seems to be to do it yourself. Purchasing a home water filter allows you to have all the benefits of bottled water without the exorbitant costs. You can even bottle your own water and bring it with you.
